Good one but not realistic scores |
I purchased this book after having read its previous edition so I already knew what to expect. There is no difference that I saw between the two revisions and the few mistakes in the answers of the sample questions are still there. However, the way it introduces a beginner to GMAT is excellent and the methods to approach each section are quite good. I havent read the Princeton book but Im told this is better. The CD-ROM is great and helps revising what you have read in the book quite a lot. It even contains a benchmark utility to compare your score(s) against the score that each US B-school asks. One more thing is that the GMAT CAT tests included in the CD-ROM are not very realistic. I got an average 600 in the 4 of them but on test day I got 710. To know where you really stand, try the CD-ROM thats sent to you for free by POWERPREP when you sign up for a GMAT exam appointment. There is also a huge book that also comes for free when you sign up and this contains A LOT of exercises for you to prepare. I have two GMAT scores and both of them where predicted precisely by POWERPREP CD-ROMs CAT tests.

Not bad - but take it in context |
|
Technique and approach are well covered in this book but it seems easy to get bogged down in them. The questions are not official GMAT ones and I actually noticed a real difference between the Kaplan questions and the real GMAT questions in The Official GMAT guide. I would recommend buying both books for good GMAT prep using the former for technique and the latter to just keep practicing as many questions as possible.

Excellent introductory book to GMAT |
|
Very comprehensive book covering all the aspects of GMAT. All types of questions are analysed, advice on best approach are given and sample questions (together with solution explanations) are very useful. The best source of information I came across for getting familiar with GMAT.
